Visiting our hospitals
You do not need to book a visiting time. However, please check the visiting hours for the specific ward or unit before you travel, and report to the nurse in charge when you arrive.
If you are visiting someone who has an infection, or who is particularly vulnerable to infection, you may be asked to wear a face mask and, in some cases, other personal protective equipment (PPE). Staff will advise you on any precautions that are required.
To help protect our patients, visitors and staff, we may occasionally need to restrict visiting in certain areas during periods of increased infection risk. We appreciate your understanding if this becomes necessary.
Please note that, due to infection prevention and control measures, fresh stem-cut flowers are not permitted in our hospitals.
Helping to keep everyone safe
To help prevent the spread of infections, we ask all patients, visitors and staff to:
Use hand sanitiser or wash your hands when entering the hospital and when entering or leaving any ward or department.
Follow any local infection prevention and control measures, including guidance provided by staff and displayed on signage.
Feel free to wear a face mask if you wish to do so, even though masks are no longer routinely required.
Maternity visiting guidelines
We want your stay with us to feel calm, supported, and comfortable. To help us provide a safe and peaceful environment for all families, please follow the visiting guidance below. Appointments Labour Ward – Level 3 (Open Visiting) Visitors are welcome any time, day or night. You can have up to two visitors with you at once. This keeps your room calm, private, and safe for your care. You can choose two named birth partners to support you during labour, including during induction. If you have a caesarean birth with a regional anaesthetic, one named birth partner may be with you in theatre. Postnatal Wards – Level 4 These visiting hours help us keep the ward safe and well managed as we move into the evening and night shift. During your stay with us, you're welcome to have two visitors at any time between 4pm and 7pm.

Our hospital visiting times
You are welcome to have visitors at any time, but please note that our front doors close at 8pm. We welcome visitors from 10am to 7pm. Our core visiting hours are 10:00am to 10:00pm. To help ensure patients can rest comfortably and receive the care they need, we kindly ask visitors to check with our ward team before visiting, as the most suitable times may vary depending on individual treatment and care requirements. A few helpful guidelines A maximum of two visitors may be in a patient's room at any one time. Exceptions can be made for patients receiving palliative care. Children under the age of 10 years are welcome but we ask for them to be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times. Visitors are welcome 3.30pm to 8pm.
